Tigers’ Franklin Pere Custom Phillies Jersey z out with lat strain

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Tigers’ highly-regarded crop of starting pitching prospects has its first major injury. Top prospect Franklin Perez suffered a right lat strain during a Minor League Spring Training game on Sunday and is expected to miss at least 12 weeks.

The injury is not expected to require surgery, but essentially sidelines the gifted 20-year-old right-hander for the first half of the 2018 Minor League season. Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard suffered a right lat strain at the end of April last year and returned in September.

The injury is not expected to require surgery, but essentially sidelines the gifted 20-year-old right-hander for the first half of the 2018 Minor League season. Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard suffered a right lat strain at the end of April last year and returned in September.

“It’s a l Custom Phillies Jersey ittle unfortunate, but he’ll bounce back,” Tigers vice president of player development David Littlefield said Monday night. “It’ll take some time.”

Perez was pitching in a Double-A game against the Braves when he felt discomfort around his right armpit on his final pitch of the second inning, Littlefield said. He was Customized Philadelphia Phillies Jersey  promptly removed from the game. An MRI exam on Monday confirmed the diagnosis.

Perez ranks 39th on MLB Pipeline’s list of baseball’s top prospects and first in the Tigers system, a group that has been heavily stocked through trades over the last eight months. Perez was the top prospect in the return package Detroit received from Houston in the Justin Verlander trade last August. Ironically, Verlander suffered a similar injury on his rise up the Tigers’ farm system.

Perez went 6-3 with a 3.02 ERA in 19 appearances in the Astros system between Class A Buies Creek and Double-A Corpus Christi. He was expected to open the season at Double-A Erie as part of an im Men’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey pressive starting tandem with Beau Burrows, the 77th-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline’s overall list.

Perez will stay in Lakeland and rehab at the recently-upgraded workout facility in Tigertown once camp breaks, under the watch of Tigers medical services director Kevin Rand. Perez could still end up pitching in Erie this year, but the Tigers are likely to exercise patience with him.

Perez is the second pitching prospect in the Tigers’ rankings to suffer a major injury this year. Closing prospect Bryan Garcia, ranked 1 http://www.ecustombaseballgears.com/Custom-Philadelphia-Phillies-Jersey 6th on the list, underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last month and is expected to miss the entire season.

Michael Fulmer on track Custom Phillies Jersey  for Tigers with 5 IP

LAKELAND, Fla. — Michael Fulmer thought pitching coach Chris Bosio was heading over to tell him he had a good afternoon after the top of the fourth inning Monday. He had thrown 71 pitches — his high pitch count for the spring — and had worked through some trouble.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Michael Fulmer thought pitching coach Chris Bosio was heading over to tell him he had a good afternoon after the top of the fourth inning Monday. He had thrown 71 pitches — his high pitch count for the spring — and had worked through some trouble.

Much to Fulmer’s pleasant surprise, Bosio had another idea when he approached him in the dugout.

“Bosio comes up to me and says, ‘All right, we’re going to just start off with changeups, just slow [Alex] Presley’s bat down,’ this and that,” Fulmer recalled. “And I’m like, ‘I thought you were coming to shake my hand.'”

:: Spring Training coverage presented by Camping World ::

Three batters later, Fulmer had the five-inning performance Custom Phillies Jersey  he wanted, with 83 pitches thrown in the process. It essentially put him back on his normal count for his next-to-last start of camp, making up for lost time from his bout with muscular soreness behind his right elbow this month.

“I felt great,” Fulmer said. “Everything kind of felt normal, just building pitch count up again. I’m sure next outing I’ll do the same thing. I’ll hit that 80 mark, and then the last inning I’ll be a little tired. But that’s what you have to  Women’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey do during the season, too. I was happy with the way everything went.”

Fulmer allowed two runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts. His 54 strikes included several sliders at 84-85 mph, slowe Customized Philadelphia Phillies Jersey r than the power slider he has been throwing for most of his career. It was the one after-effect from his elbow soreness, and it was a mechanical adjustment more than an injury reaction.

Tigers Spring Training info

“That’s a slider,” Fulmer said. “The elbow inflammation, I told you guys I thought I was throwing my slider a little different http://www.ecustombaseballgears.com/Custom-Philadelphia-Phillies-Jersey  way, trying to get more depth on it. I was doing it the wrong way, and I was kind of hyperextending my elbow, which led to the elbow inflammation. So I kind of stopped throwing it that way, and then Bosio and [bullpen coach] Rick Anderson went up to me and said this is what you have to do.

“If it’s in the 84-86 [mph] range, I think that’s perfect for me. It’s a little bigger break, and it paid off today. That was the best I’ve seen it.”

The pitch acts more like an offspeed pitch thanks to the velocity difference, but also looks like a changeup when he’s releasing the ball. It essentially bridges the difference between his old slider and a more traditional curveball.

Fulmer will have likely one more start this spring, stretching out close to 100 pitches. Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said it would “probably be a safe assumption” that Fulmer will pitch the second game of the regular season — March 31 — against the Pirates following Jordan Zimmermann’s Opening Day assignment.

Fiers not overly worried about back
Mike Fiers isn’t calling it an injury issue. If his lower back discomfort popped up during the season rather than this spring, he said, it would not sideline him.

“If we were in-season and my start was coming up, I’m pitching,” he said Monday morning. “But right now, it’s not worth pushing, so just taking it slow.”

Fiers had been pitching through it this spring and struggling, having allowed 12 runs on 10 hits over 11 1/3 innings with eight walks and seven strikeouts. With Fiers’ pitching woes becoming more pronounced in his last start, the Tigers decided to hold him back until they can address the back.

“You want to be 100 percent every time and ready to go,” Fiers said, “but things happen, so you just have to take it for what it is. I’ve been through stuff like this before. Obviously it’s frustrating, but they don’t want me out there hurting myself and making it worse. But we still have a lot of time. Hopefully I’m back out there in a couple days.”

Video: 30 Clubs in 30 Days: Fiers on becoming a Tiger

Fiers said he first tweaked his back while lifting weights in the offseason. He’s considered day-to-day for now.

“You don’t have to force it,” Fiers said, “so since I’m not out there doesn’t mean I’m injured. It just means I’m taking it a little bit slower than usual. We have that luxury in spring.”

Gardenhire called Fiers’ situation a back strain, but didn’t seem concerned about the timetable.

“Everybody’s read everything, and there’s nothing major here,” Gardenhire said. “It’s just back strain/tightness, and now they’re working on him every morning trying to get that loosened up where we can go to work. How long that’s going to be, I don’t know.”

Spring Training audition
While Spring Training is winding down for the Tigers, it’s gearing up for Dan Hasty, who will get a chance to fulfill a dream and broadcast two games this week for the team he grew up following.

Hasty, the play-by-play voice of the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps, will work alongside Jim Price on the call for the Tigers’ Grapefruit League games Tuesday and Friday, giving Dan Dickerson a couple of days off. He was preparing on Monday, laptop and notes spread across the counter next to the Tigers’ radio booth.

It’s an exciting time for Hasty, who grew up in nearby Sterling Heights, Mich., and listened to Price on broadcasts as a kid. Tuesday’s 1:05 p.m. ET broadcast will be available via Gameday Audio and in Detroit on AM 1270.

Quick hits
• Gardenhire said he talked with his team about the importance of covering the bases and maintaining concentration after complaining about miscues in Sunday’s loss to the Rays.

“I was a little fired up,” he said, “and you just get it off your chest, drink a little coffee to fire your heart back up, and then you relax. Just turn up the volume a little.”

• Blaine Hardy made his first appearance of the spring and fired a scoreless inning on 11 pitches, erasing a leadoff single with a ground-ball double play.

“It almost feels like it hasn’t been as long as it has since I’d thrown off a mound,” said Hardy, who was sidelined by inflammation in his left shoulder. He’s expected to pitch again Thursday.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Alan Trammell, humbled by his Cooperstown surroundings and modest in his own abilities to stand shoulder to shoulder with the greats of the game, attempted to put his unique circumstances in perspective on Thursday.

“I couldn’t have dreamt it any better,” said Trammell, speaking in the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Plaque Gallery during his first trip to the sport’s shrine since his election on Dec. 10. “I think I’m dreaming, to be honest with you. It’s been three months now since I got the phone call from [Hall of Fame chairperson] Jane Forbes Clark. It sounds good — the Hall of Fame and Alan Trammell. My god, who wouldn’t like that?

It sounds good — the Hall of Fame and Alan Trammell. My god, who wouldn’t like that?

“If I graded myself as a player, I did a lot of things. Maybe nothing great but a lot of things well.”

Trammell was in Cooperstown, along with his wife, Barbara, for his orientation visit on Thursday in advance of his induction.

The Class of 2018 will also include Baseball Writers’ Association of America electees Jim Thome, Chipper Jones, Trevor Hoffman and Vladimir Guerrero, and Trammell’s fellow Modern Baseball Era Committee electee, Jack Morris. The six new Hall of Famers will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, July 29, at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.

A beloved symbol of Detroit baseball for two decades, Trammell was a consistent all-around producer in the field as a shortstop and the batter’s box for the Tigers from 1977-96. A six-time All-Star, he earned four Gold Glove Awards and three Silver Slugger Awards at shortstop. In 1984, his two home runs and .450 batting average led him to being named World Series MVP in Detroit’s five-game triumph over the Padres.

In 1987, Trammell finished second in American League MVP voting after hitting .343 with 28 homers and 105 RBIs. A seven-time .300 hitter with a .285 career batting average, his .977 fielding percentage ranks seventh among shortstops with at least 2,000 games played.

There are 52 Hall of Famers who spent their entire career with one team, with 2018 electees Trammell and Jones the most recent additions to this list.

“You look at the back of my baseball card and it says one team. That’s pretty cool,” Trammell said. “When it got to a certain point into my career, then it started becoming, ‘You know what? It would be pretty special if I could wear this uniform my whole career.’ And it did work out that way.”

Trammell and his wife also received a two-hour tour of the Hall from Museum vice president of exhibitions and collections Erik Strohl.

“It’s over Custom Phillies Jersey Cheap whelming, to be honest with you,” Trammell, who turned 60 three weeks ago, said after autographing the spot where his plaque wil Customized Philadelphia Phillies Jersey l reside come this summer. “As somebody who has been a sports junkie my whole life, baseball first and foremost, and to now just to say that you’re part of that group, it’s hard to comprehend.

“Talking to other inductees, it might not sink in until after the ceremony on July 29. Each day, there are moments where it crosses my mind and I smile to myself and I say, ‘Tram, you are now on the Dream Team.’ For individual accomplishment, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

“I’m sure like 99.9 percent of the inductees will say, it wasn’t my goal when I was a young boy,” Trammell continued. “First of all, you wanted to play professional baseball, you wanted to make it to the Major Leagues, and then as you get established, you want to do well and you want to win a championship. Those things I was able to do. But really, as far as the Hall of Fame, that really wasn’t something that I thought about.”

During the tour, a four-story trip through baseball’s long history, an inquisitive Trammell marveled at the evolution of baseball gloves, bats, gloves, often comparing them to the ones he used during his playing career, as well as examining familiar touchstones from his successful past.

Born and raised in the San Diego area, Trammell also had an affinity for an exhibit on local hero Ted Williams and a costume from the San Diego Chicken.

“He was pretty special,” said Trammell of Williams. “A hometown guy.”

From his own career, Trammell was able to watch a video of Tigers teammate Kirk Gibson slug a critical homer against the Padres in the 1984 World Series, check out a military helmet from Disco Demolition Night — a game his Tigers played against the White Sox in 1979 — and look at a second base he used with longtime double-play partner Lou Whitaker from their final home game in 1995.

“We hit if off right from the start. It’s a great story. What a teammate,” Trammell said about his 19-year diamond partnership with Whitaker. “I’m hoping that maybe someday that he can be here as well. Regardless whether it happens or not, the story of Lou and Tram, Tram and Lou, that’s never going to be forgotten. Especially for Tigers fans.”

Asked about the progress of his induction speech, Trammell fir Women’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey st laughed then said: “I have the gist of what I want to say and I have to fine-tune it. I’m getting close and I still have a few months to go, but I’ll be ready.”

As for his Hall of Fame plaque, Trammell’s hope is that it might refer to him as “a model of consistency.”

Unless Fiers — who is out of options — goes to the bullpen, that leaves one spot for either Boyd or Norris. The other will go to the bullpen in Detroit or the rotation at Triple-A Toledo. Considering the emphasis general manager Al Avila has placed on building starting-pitching depth, the latter option seems more likely.

:: Spring Training coverage presented by Camping World ::

Norris started Friday’s Grapefruit League contest against the Phillies with a ton of focus on his situation as the potential odd man out. He did not pitch for the first turn through the Tigers’ rotation last month as a precaution after undergoing a follow-up exam on the right groin injury that sidelined him last summer. His previous two outings were relief appearances and he entered Friday with five innings pitched for the spring as pitching coach Chris Bosio brings him along slowly.

Norris made six starts at Toledo las Men’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey t year while on an injury rehab assignment after spending the first half of the season in Detroit’s rotation. He rejoined the Tigers once rosters expanded in September.

Video: WSH@DET: Norris talks about improving in 2018

Boyd has made four starts in the Tigers’ rotation this spring, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits over 11 innings with three walks and 11 strikeouts. He had a particularly strong last outing Monday against the Nationals with three scoreless innings of one-hit ball, overcoming a pair of walks with three strikeouts.

“It’s not my decision,” Boyd said of the rotation. “My job is go out there and attack and just go do my thing, help my team out in whatever way that I can. I’m excited about the opportunity that we have. I think we have an awesome rotation, whatever way that it shakes out, an awesome pitching staff. I think we have a really solid team. My job is to just take the ball when I’m told and just go attack.”

Though Boyd has been shuttled between Detroit and Toledo in each of the last three seasons, he still has an option remaining. So, too, does Buck Farmer, who has been on a similar back and forth the last few years as an insurance starter but has been exclusively a reliever this spring.

The Tigers have had more of a challenge with options in past years. Detroit, knowing a rebuilding was looming, carried Dixon Machado on the roster as an extra infielder last year because he was out of options and the Tigers feared losing him on waivers like th Women’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey ey did with fellow infielder Hernan Perez in 2015.

Machado received just 181 plate appearances last year, but is now in position to start at second base with Ian Kinsler  Custom Phillies Jersey traded to the Angels. If Jose Iglesias is traded this season or leaves as a free agent next winter, Machado could shift over to shortstop, his natural position.

The Tigers could face a similar decision next year with Norris and Boyd. For now, though, the options give Tigers management a play.

Mike Gerber impresses Tigers in spr Custom Phillies Jersey ing camp

Gerber, who is the club’s 11th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline, was one of 11 cuts from Tigers camp Tuesday. Others included left-hander Ryan Carpenter and catcher Grayson Greiner, who like Gerber were optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Right-hander Sandy Baez and shortstop Sergio Alcantara were optioned to Double-A Erie, while right-hander Eduardo Jimenez was optioned to Class A Lakeland.

Prospect Jake Rogers joins fellow catcher Arvicent Perez and right-handers Enrique Burgos, Kevin Comer and Mark Montgomery in being assigned to Minor League camp. The difference from assignments to options is semantics — the former going to non-roster invites, the latter applying to players on the 40-man roster.

:: Spring Training coverage presented by Camping World ::

The big batch of moves coincide with the start of Minor League games at different levels, but it also comes around the time Gardenhire and coaches begin serious discussions on who to bring north on the Opening Day roster. While the future has been a recurring theme for the Tigers this Spring Training, it’s about time for Gardenhire and general manager Al Avila to figure out who will be Tigers in the present.

Gerber isn’t there yet, but as this spring showed, he’s not far off.

“Last year, I felt like was my first year where I had a realistic shot,” Gerber said. “This year, being on the roster really bumps that up a little bit. This will be the first year where it’s realistic that I could be up there.”

Gerber went 7-for-20 with three doubles, a home run and two RBIs this spring. His eight strikeouts were a cause for concern, though most of those came early in the Grapefruit League schedule.

“Something I’ve been working on the past couple years,” Gerber said of his strikeouts.

The bigger impression Gerber made was in the outfield, where the Creighton University product made good reads and catches in all three spots. That’s vital as the Tigers enter the season looking for insurance options should an injury or a trade force them to make a midseason move.

“You watch him run the ball down in center, and he could be a center fielder straight up,” Gardenhire said. “But the more you’re able to play, it gives you more options. Especially the way our roster is right now, we need people with versatility that can move around a little bit. We talked to all those guys about those things.”

With Rule 5 Draft pick Victor Reyes fighting for a spot and JaCoby Jones enjoying a resurgent spring, Gerber would’ve had a hard time avoiding Toledo, Customized Philadelphia Phillies Jersey  where he played just five games at the end of last season. If he keeps this up, he might not be Custom Phillies Jersey  there long.

Rogers impresses, but …
Another youngster who impressed was Roge Men’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey rs, who showed in his first Tigers camp why MLB Pipeline ranked him as the top defensive catching prospect in baseball. Rogers not only showed off his glovework, he did so with flair, though maybe a little too much on one occasion for Gardenhire’s liking.

Video: DET@NYM: Rogers easily throws out Kaczmarski

“He did it on one of the road games,” Gardenhire said. “We struck a guy out, there was a runner, and he fired from his knees over the [batter’s] shoulder. It wasn’t pretty. I’ll just put it that way. So I definitely talked to him very shortly after the game ended: ‘I know you’re a big shooter, but let’s be a better shooter.’ Not mean, just the basics of what we’re trying to teach here.”

That said, the skill set behind the flash was obvious.

“He’s very athletic,” Gardenhire said. “He has all the attributes of a good catcher in the mak Custom Phillies Jersey Cheap ing. I mean, this kid’s got tools, really good tools, and he’s intelligent behind the plate. Gets a little flashy at times, and I don’t ever want to take too much of that away, but there’s basic parts where we tried to clean him up a little bit, and he did during Spring Training.”

Rogers will most likely open the season at Erie, having ended last season at Class A Advanced Lakeland.

“We like him a lot,” Gardenhire said. “He’s a talented young man. I think he’s a really good future.”

Most of those players aren’t Major League-ready, leaving the Tigers in transition for 2018. But the ones who are knocking on the door are trying to claim their spots, playing alongside a group of veterans shifting into a mentoring role.

5 questions Tigers face going into season

“There’s guys obviously that want to make the club; they see the opportunity,” general manager Al Avila said. “The window of opportunity for a lot of these guys is right now. That, in itself, is an exciting time for the players, period. And then you have a brand new coaching staff that is very excited for the season and they want to teach how to play the game in a winning way. I think those two dynamics make for a good camp.”

While young players such as Jeimer Candelario and Dixon Machado try to prove they belong in the everyday lineup, established stars like Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez are trying to prove they still have a lot left to give following injury-plagued seasons.

Video: 30 Clubs in 30 Days: Fulmer on new manager, season

What’s the goal?
The goal from Detroit down the organizational ladder is to develop the young talent it has accumulated and figure out who has a role in the rebuild. For the big league Tigers, that means putting Candelario and Machado into everyday roles, getting Michael Fulmer back to health at the top of the rotation, seeing what they have in Matthew Boyd and Daniel Norris, and sorting out the bullpen. For the farm system, it means not only working with the top prospects, but seeing if there’s a diamond in the rough from the crop of younger, lower-level prospects acquired over the last eight months.

:: Spring Training coverage presented by Camping World ::

What’s the plan?
The Tigers are preaching long-term rebuild, and for good reason. The heart of the project is starting pitching, b http://www.ecustombaseballgears.com/Custom-Philadelphia-Phillies-Jersey ut the pitching prospects are still at least a year away (longer in the case of No. 2 prospect Matt Manning). Though the Tigers have tried to stockpile hitting prospects in their trades (Candelario, Isaac Paredes, Dawel Lugo and Daz Cameron), they acknowledge they don’t have a superstar yet. They could find one through the Draft in June, where they hold the top overall pick for the first time since 1997, or in the next round of trades, if Nicholas Castellanos becomes a Trade Deadline target or another team overwhelms them with an offer for Fulmer.

Video: 30 Clubs in 30 Days: Norris on 2018 preparation

What could go wrong?
Young players don’t all develop as hoped, which Custom Phillies Jersey Cheap  is why rebuilding teams often stockpile prospects at similar positions to improve their chances. That’s why the Tigers have four top starting-pitching prospects, in addition to Fulmer, Norris and Boyd. Still, an injury or two could p Customized Philadelphia Phillies Jersey ush the timetable. Beyond that, a slow start from Castellanos or others could either dampen trade interest or rule out deals altogether. There are injury questions for aging stars like Cabrera, Martinez and Jordan Zimmermann, which could have a big short-term impact on wins and losses.

Vid Men’s Philadelphia Phillies Authentic Personalized Home White Baseball Jersey eo: 30 Clubs in 30 Days: Tigers Chatter

Who might surprise?
The Tigers like Candelario a lot, even before his strong finish in Detroit as a late-season callup last year, and believe he could hold down the hot corner for a while at Comerica Park, providing an impact hitter in the middle of the order as he matures. Castellanos shouldn’t surprise anyone after his stretch run last year, but the combination of his metrics from last season and his swing this Spring Training suggest he might still be underrated and could become a star. Beau Burrows has the best chance of the starting-pitching prospects to beat the timetable to Detroit, having forced his way to Double-A Erie at midseason last year.

SEATTLE — What began as a perfect start for Justin Verlander turned into a perfect finish instead for the Mariners as Seattle rallied for a 7-5 victory Wednesday night at Safeco Field.

Verlander didn’t allow a baserunner until one out in the sixth, but things quickly unraveled from there as Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano ripped two-run

“Sixth and seventh inning, they just hit us,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “And that was the ballgame.”

Cruz capped the go-ahead four-run push in the seventh with a run-scoring single as he totaled three RBIs to increase his American League-leading total to 58 in a 2-for-4 night. Ben Gamel also went 2-for-4 to raise his batting average to .354.

Verlander wound up allowing four hits and three runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts in a 110-pitch outing that left his record at 4-4 with a 4.52 ERA. Reliever Shane Greene took the loss after allowing all four runs in the seventh.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Verlander was “as good as any starter we’ve seen this year,” and his club was thrilled to beat the veteran ace at his best.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Mariners, who pulled even at .500 for the fourth time this season at 37-37, though they’ve yet to get over that hump. Despite solo homers by James McCann and Ian Kinsler, the Tigers lost their season-high fifth straight to fall to 32-39.

“It’s not an easy pill,” Verlander said. “You definitely want to come away with a win, especially if you feel like you’ve got the best stuff you’ve had all year. Just kind of one of those days. These guys are rolling. We’re not. Once you get that ball going downhill, it’s kind of hard to stop it.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Costly throw: Paxton was only down 2-0 going into the sixth. But after a leadoff single by Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez blooped a base hit into center. Cabrera held up between first and second as Jarrod Dyson, one of the
Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey better defensive outfielders in the game, played the ball on a hop and appeared to have a chance to force Cabrera at second with an accurate throw. But Dyson sailed the ball over shortstop Jean Segura’s head and the runners moved to second and third as it rolled to the Tigers dugout. Justin Upton then followed with a two-run single and Paxton’s day was done two batters later with the 4-0 deficit, though one of those runs was unearned. More >

“I tried to rush the throw and it just two-seamed on me,” Dyson said. “I think it hit the lip of the grass and kicked over to the dugout. I’m still upset by that because it allowed them to score two more. Paxton kept us in the ballgame and if I eliminate that mistake, they might just have had two on the board.”

Perfect bunt at perfect time: Verlander had sailed through 5 1/3 innings and was looking extremely sharp when Dyson dropped down a well-placed bunt that pulled first baseman Cabrera toward second and left Verlander in a no-chance race to beat the speedy Mariners center fielder to the bag at first. Dyson’s time of 3.7 seconds to first — per Statcast™ — wasn’t his fastest of the year, but was plenty fast enough to give him the infield single. It was Dyson’s fifth-fastest home-to-first clocking on a hit this season and all five of those are among the top 25 in MLB this year. Dyson’s quickest time of 3.50 earlier this year is tied with Twins speedster Byron Buxton for No. 1 on the
Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Majestic White Flex Base 40th Anniversary Patch Jersey list. That bunt kick-started Seattle’s three-run sixth as Verlander proceeded to give up a walk, two singles and Cruz’s two-run double.

“Just trying to get something going,” said Dyson. “The guy had a perfect game going on us. I’m not just going to just keep going up there hacking at him. In our matchup in the past, he always wins the battle, so I had to just try to play my game and I was able to get down a good bunt Kevin Pillar Womens Jersey.”

QUOTABLE
“Even though we didn’t have a hit going into the sixth, I liked the quality of our at-bats and high pitch counts. Just five- and six-pitch at-bats, one guy after another, and you’re hoping we can get him off his spot. It’s kind of like a guy shooting 10 free throws in a row, you’ve got to get him off his spot. Dyson made a great bunt and that gave our Josh Donaldson Jersey dugout a little energy and the at-bats continued and we got a few pitches to hit.” — Servais on how the game changed after Seattle finally forced Verlander to pitch from the stretch

“We’re playing like crap, overall. We’re losing games. There’s not much to say. We’ve got to snap out of it somehow. I don’t know if it’s the chicken or the egg, but something’s got to happen to turn the tide and we’ve got to do it pretty quick.” — Ausmus on the Tigers’ struggles

Tigers’ Justin Verlander Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale finds form in loss

SEATTLE — Justin Verlander took the mound for the sixth inning of Wednesday night’s 7-5 loss to the Mariners at Safeco Field with a four-run lead, a
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap perfect game and a fastball topping out at 98 mph. He left seven batters later, still in the sixth inning, with the tying run in scoring position. He went from trying to push for perfection to hoping to preserve the lead.

A 50-foot dribbler from Jarrod Dyson got it all started.

“That’s what Dyson does,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “He uses his speed to get on base. Bunting for a base hit is one way to do it, and it certainly got them going.”

Bemoan the sportsmanship of a bunt in a perfect game bid all you want, but Dyson knew the competitive value. If the Mariners could get Verlander out of his rhythm, they had a chance. Even if the Mariners could simply force extra pitches out of Verlander and bring the bullpen to work, they had a chance.

“It was a perfect bunt,” Verlander said. “That’s part of his game. I don’t think it was quite too late, given the situation, to bunt, especially being as how that’s a major part of what he does. I really didn’t have any issues with it.

“It’s not like I got upset about it. Just kind Kevin Pillar Womens Jersey of being my first time out of the stretch, I lost a little bit of
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey rhythm there.”

For 16 batters, Verlander felt the best he has all year, maybe even better than he did last year on his way to Cy Young Award runner-up. For the last six batters, he felt as if he was trying to stop a Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey boulder rolling downhill.

“These guys are rolling. We’re not,” Verlander said. “Once you get that Josh Donaldson Jersey ball going downhill, it’s kind of hard to stop it.”

The consolation for Verlander is that he believes he has finally found the form he has been seeking all season. The question is whether there’s enough time for it to make a difference in the Tigers’ fate, now seven games under .500 for the first time since their last-place finish in 2015.

The form was a mechanical adjustment, Verlander leveling his shoulders in his delivery to be more efficient to the Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale plate instead of trying to force velocity. The result was a fastball that hit 96-97 mph on the radar gun early, but also left Mariners hitters swinging late. The swing-and-misses Verlander was missing the last few weeks were in abundance Wednesday, 10 of them off his fastball, with another 11 fastballs taken for
Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey strikes.

“The things I was working on really manifested themselves,” Verlander said, “and I saw the results that I was looking for — less foul balls, stuff getting on guys a little bit better, all of the above, everything that’s kind of been pestering me.”

Verlander racked up six strikeouts his first turn through the Mariners lineup. Four were swing-and-misses of 96-97 mph fastballs. Two were curveballs taken for called third strikes. He racked up four more strikeouts in seven at-bats the second time through Kevin Pillar Jersey, including a 98 mph fastball past Danny Valencia to end a battle in the fifth.

Verlander opened the sixth with a strikeout on a slider that left Haniger struggling to hold up. Once Dyson placed his bunt between Verlander and Miguel Cabrera, momentum reversed.

Mike Zunino fouled off a 3-2 fastball before taking another for a walk. Jean Segura hit a popup that caught a wind and tucked inside the left-field line beyond rangy Jose Iglesias. Ben Gamel lined an RBI single for the first run.

Verlander recovered for a called third strike on Robinson Cano, but paid for curveball to old nemesis Nelson Cruz.

“Really, it all came down to executing a little better pitch to Cruz there with two outs,” he said. “Need to execute the pitch just a tad bit better, but overall, best I’ve felt in a long time. Actually, extremely optimistic about it.”

Robinson Cano powers Mariners Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey with grand slam

SEATTLE — It’s taken the Mariners all season to climb over the .500 mark, but they finally made it as Robinson Cano cranked two home runs and a career high-tying six RBIs in a 9-6 victory over the Tigers on Thursday night to complete a four-game series sweep.Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap.

Cano hadn’t homered in his previous 15 games, but he roped a two-run shot in the third and a grand slam in the seventh to give him 13 homers and 48 RBIs on the year. That provided plenty of run support for right-hander Andrew Moore, who won his Major League debut with seven innings of three-run ball.

Full Game Coverage

“I’m not looking for my power numbers, but when you’ve got men in scoring position or situations like that and you hit a homer, you put your team ahead,” Cano said. “That’s what I’m looking for. For me, it’s not about how many homers I hit, it’s just to do my job with men in scoring position.”

Seattle had lost its previous four games when given a chance to break .500, but this time improved to 38-37 with just the second four-game sweep of the Tigers in franchise Josh Donaldson Jersey history Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey. The Mariners are 17-8 since May 28, the second-best mark in the Majors in that span.

Detroit (32-40) saw its season-long losing streak extended to six games, falling to last place in the American League Central. Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera each had two hits with a home run and two RBIs, while Daniel Norris took the loss as he allowed five runs on five hits over six frames.Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey.

“I gave up the five runs in three innings and I still wasn’t feeling it,” Norris said. “But in my head, I had to find a way to get through. And the way I finished is the positive I am going to take out of it. But at the same time, obviously, you want to give the team a better chance to win. It was a grind, for sure.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
He likes lefties, too: WIth Jean Segura back off the disabled list, Mariners manager Scott Servais dropped the hot-hitting Ben Gamel out of the leadoff role. He was in the two-hole against right-hander Justin Verlander on Wednesday and hit in the No. 7 spot against the southpaw Norris. But Gamel doesn’t seem to care where he hits, he just hits. The rookie ripped a two-run double in the second to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest active streak in the Majors. He’s batted .431 (25-for-58) during that stretch to put his average at .352. And he’s fared just fine against lefties, batting .340.

“It feels good to see Gamel come from the Minor Leagues and do the job he’s doing,” Cano said. “He’s helping us big time in the lineup. You can’t just focus on the three guys [in the middle].”

Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale Birthday bash: Kinsler celebrated turning 35 by continuing his recent power surge as he homered for a third straight game, this one a solo shot with two out in the third for the Tigers’ first run off Moore. Kinsler drove a 90-mph fastball a projected 398 feet, per Statcast™, over the left-field wall as Moore left a 3-1 fastball out over the plate. Kinsler also had a run-scoring single in the fifth in going 2-for-5, and he now has eight homers on the season.Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey.

“He’s been a little more aggressive on the bases, he’s swung the bat better, he’s looked good at the plate,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “He’s a guy that wants to win, so he’s trying to do what he can to spark, I guess, would be a good way to describe it.”

QUOTABLES
“That was unbelievable. It felt like I blinked and it was over. It absolutely flew by.” — Moore, on his MLB debut

“Big night for Robbie, no doubt. He was due. He doesn’t like everybody else getting all the attention and certainly tonight, he carried the load for us with a couple big homers. Very talented player, he’s had a great career. He can go hitless or not look great for a few days, but it usually doesn’t last too long with him.” — Mariners manager Scott Servais, on Cano Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Majestic White Flex Base 40th Anniversary Patch Jersey.

ROCKY DEBUT FOR POVSE
Moore wasn’t the only Mariners pitcher making his first MLB appearance as Max Povse also saw his first action since being called up from Double-A when he replaced Moore in the eighth. The 6-foot-8 right-hander didn’t fare nearly as well, allowing three runs on four straight two-out hits — a double by Alex Avila, Cabrera’s two-run homer to center, a double by J.D. Martinez and a run-scoring single by Justin Upton that cut the lead to 9-6 — before Tony Zych came on to strike out Andrew Romine and end the rally.

Moore and Povse became the 30th and 31st pitchers used by the Mariners in their first 75 games, including 12 rookies. Moore is the team’s 13th starter. All of those numbers are the most in the Majors this year.

Blue Jays Jersey White celebrate Play Ball Weekend at Josh Donaldson

DETROIT — From meet-and-greets to on-field clinics, Play Ball Weekend is a chance for boys and Josh Donaldson Jersey girls to get an up-close look at some of their favorite players. Detroit will host 15 events/attractions Thursday through Sunday, all centered on bringing baseball to young kids and families.

The second annual Play Ball Weekend features a variety of youth engagement activities by nearly 200 Major League and Minor League clubs to highlight the fun of youth baseball and softball. It is a complementary program of the Play Ball initiative, designed by MLB to celebrate youth baseball and softball participation. MLB has provided clubs with more than 300,000 youth plastic bat and ball Jose Bautista Jersey sets to distribute in both ballparks and at community events.

Full Game Coverage

On Friday, the Tigers hosted a kids-only press conference with two youth baseball teams as one of several events over the weekend. The press conference featured Tigers pitchers Blaine Hardy and Shane Greene, as well as utility man Andrew Romine, who answered questions from an audience of almost 40 young ballplayers. Questions to the pros ranged from how they strengthened their arms and found inspiration for baseball, to their favorite school subject and U.S. president.

“It’s inspiring to the little kids who might want to play in the big leagues one day,” said Tigers Kids Club member Sarah Larson Russell Martin Jersey, 13, who hosted the press conference. “Because then they have the Major League players who once were little kids, so they’re talking about their experiences and stuff.”

Hardy admitted that if he’d been one of the kids, with an opportunity to ask MLB players whatever he wanted, his question would pertain more relevant to life than simply to baseball.

“Because obviously you want to be exactly like them,” Hardy said. “What do you eat? What do you do when you’re not at the field? What do you do for fun? Stuff like that.”

Many MLB clubs are hosting skills and physical fitness clinics as well as surprise “takeovers” of youth baseball and softball games or practices featuring appearances by Major League players, alumni, mascots, public address announcers and more. Activities will include pregame meet-and-greets and catches with players, ceremonial first pitches, public address duties, lineup card exchanges, taking the field with players, postgame running the bases and more. Major League players, coaches and managers will wear Play Ball Weekend patches during the weekend’s games, and players on home clubs will wear custom T-shirts during batting practice on the date of their club’s activations.

On Saturday, Detroit hosted a Blue Jays Jersey Red community clinic with strength and conditioning coach Yousef Zamat and other members of the coaching staff. The clinic included three 15-minute rotations of throwing, hitting and fielding for members of a local youth baseball league. That gave way to an on-field clinic open to all fans, where more than 100 kids and parents took to the outfield for teaching sessions with Tigers players and coaches.

Other Play Ball Weekend events featured at Comerica Park:

• On Sunday, six youth ballplayers and their parents will get a chance to play catch in the Comerica Park outfield. Then nine kids will take the field and participate in a hat exchange with current Tigers players.

• To begin Kevin Pillar Jersey Sunday’s game, one kid will be picked to be the “Play Ball” announcer prior to the first pitch.
