Cruz, Cano lead Mariners’ rally over Tigers Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap

SEATTLE — What began as a perfect start for Justin Verlander turned into a perfect finish instead for the Mariners as Seattle rallied for a 7-5 victory Wednesday night at Safeco Field.

Verlander didn’t allow a baserunner until one out in the sixth, but things quickly unraveled from there as Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano ripped two-run
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap doubles and Mitch Haniger added a solo homer to help Seattle score seven runs in the sixth and seventh.

Full Game Coverage

“Sixth and seventh inning, they just hit us,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “And that was the ballgame.”

Cruz capped the go-ahead four-run push in the seventh with a run-scoring single as he totaled three RBIs to increase his American League-leading total to 58 in a 2-for-4 night. Ben Gamel also went 2-for-4 to raise his batting average to .354.

Verlander wound up allowing four hits and three runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts in a 110-pitch outing that left his record at 4-4 with a 4.52 ERA. Reliever Shane Greene took the loss after allowing all four runs in the seventh.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Verlander was “as good as any starter we’ve seen this year,” and his club was thrilled to beat the veteran ace at his best.

“It’s huge,” said Cruz. “He’s always there competing. It was nice to have our
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey whole lineup together today and it was nice to see everybody come up big, especially late in the game. It was a great victory.”

Mariners lefty James Paxton gave up nine hits and four runs (three earned) with eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings, but wound up with a no-decision after Seattle overcame his 4-0 deficit. Paxton is 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA on the season, but just 2-2 with a 6.56 ERA in five starts since returning from the disabled list.

Miggy messes with fan

The win was the fourth in a row for the Mariners, who pulled even at .500 for the fourth time this season at 37-37, though they’ve yet to get over that hump. Despite solo homers by James McCann and Ian Kinsler, the Tigers lost their season-high fifth straight to fall to 32-39.

“It’s not an easy pill,” Verlander said. “You definitely want to come away with a win, especially if you feel like you’ve got the best stuff you’ve had all year. Just kind of one of those days. These guys are rolling. We’re not. Once you get that ball going downhill, it’s kind of hard to stop it.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Costly throw: Paxton was only down 2-0 going into the sixth. But after a leadoff single by Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez blooped a base hit into center. Cabrera held up between first and second as Jarrod Dyson, one of the
Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey better defensive outfielders in the game, played the ball on a hop and appeared to have a chance to force Cabrera at second with an accurate throw. But Dyson sailed the ball over shortstop Jean Segura’s head and the runners moved to second and third as it rolled to the Tigers dugout. Justin Upton then followed with a two-run single and Paxton’s day was done two batters later with the 4-0 deficit, though one of those runs was unearned. More >

“I tried to rush the throw and it just two-seamed on me,” Dyson said. “I think it hit the lip of the grass and kicked over to the dugout. I’m still upset by that because it allowed them to score two more. Paxton kept us in the ballgame and if I eliminate that mistake, they might just have had two on the board.”

Perfect bunt at perfect time: Verlander had sailed through 5 1/3 innings and was looking extremely sharp when Dyson dropped down a well-placed bunt that pulled first baseman Cabrera toward second and left Verlander in a no-chance race to beat the speedy Mariners center fielder to the bag at first. Dyson’s time of 3.7 seconds to first — per Statcast™ — wasn’t his fastest of the year, but was plenty fast enough to give him the infield single. It was Dyson’s fifth-fastest home-to-first clocking on a hit this season and all five of those are among the top 25 in MLB this year. Dyson’s quickest time of 3.50 earlier this year is tied with Twins speedster Byron Buxton for No. 1 on the
Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Majestic White Flex Base 40th Anniversary Patch Jersey list. That bunt kick-started Seattle’s three-run sixth as Verlander proceeded to give up a walk, two singles and Cruz’s two-run double.

“Just trying to get something going,” said Dyson. “The guy had a perfect game going on us. I’m not just going to just keep going up there hacking at him. In our matchup in the past, he always wins the battle, so I had to just try to play my game and I was able to get down a good bunt Kevin Pillar Womens Jersey.”

QUOTABLE
“Even though we didn’t have a hit going into the sixth, I liked the quality of our at-bats and high pitch counts. Just five- and six-pitch at-bats, one guy after another, and you’re hoping we can get him off his spot. It’s kind of like a guy shooting 10 free throws in a row, you’ve got to get him off his spot. Dyson made a great bunt and that gave our Josh Donaldson Jersey dugout a little energy and the at-bats continued and we got a few pitches to hit.” — Servais on how the game changed after Seattle finally forced Verlander to pitch from the stretch

“We’re playing like crap, overall. We’re losing games. There’s not much to say. We’ve got to snap out of it somehow. I don’t know if it’s the chicken or the egg, but something’s got to happen to turn the tide and we’ve got to do it pretty quick.” — Ausmus on the Tigers’ struggles

Tigers’ Justin Verlander Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale finds form in loss

SEATTLE — Justin Verlander took the mound for the sixth inning of Wednesday night’s 7-5 loss to the Mariners at Safeco Field with a four-run lead, a
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap perfect game and a fastball topping out at 98 mph. He left seven batters later, still in the sixth inning, with the tying run in scoring position. He went from trying to push for perfection to hoping to preserve the lead.

A 50-foot dribbler from Jarrod Dyson got it all started.

Full Game Coverage

“That’s what Dyson does,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “He uses his speed to get on base. Bunting for a base hit is one way to do it, and it certainly got them going.”

Bemoan the sportsmanship of a bunt in a perfect game bid all you want, but Dyson knew the competitive value. If the Mariners could get Verlander out of his rhythm, they had a chance. Even if the Mariners could simply force extra pitches out of Verlander and bring the bullpen to work, they had a chance.

“It was a perfect bunt,” Verlander said. “That’s part of his game. I don’t think it was quite too late, given the situation, to bunt, especially being as how that’s a major part of what he does. I really didn’t have any issues with it.

“It’s not like I got upset about it. Just kind Kevin Pillar Womens Jersey of being my first time out of the stretch, I lost a little bit of
Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey rhythm there.”

For 16 batters, Verlander felt the best he has all year, maybe even better than he did last year on his way to Cy Young Award runner-up. For the last six batters, he felt as if he was trying to stop a Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey boulder rolling downhill.

“These guys are rolling. We’re not,” Verlander said. “Once you get that Josh Donaldson Jersey ball going downhill, it’s kind of hard to stop it.”

The consolation for Verlander is that he believes he has finally found the form he has been seeking all season. The question is whether there’s enough time for it to make a difference in the Tigers’ fate, now seven games under .500 for the first time since their last-place finish in 2015.

The form was a mechanical adjustment, Verlander leveling his shoulders in his delivery to be more efficient to the Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale plate instead of trying to force velocity. The result was a fastball that hit 96-97 mph on the radar gun early, but also left Mariners hitters swinging late. The swing-and-misses Verlander was missing the last few weeks were in abundance Wednesday, 10 of them off his fastball, with another 11 fastballs taken for
Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey strikes.

“The things I was working on really manifested themselves,” Verlander said, “and I saw the results that I was looking for — less foul balls, stuff getting on guys a little bit better, all of the above, everything that’s kind of been pestering me.”

Verlander racked up six strikeouts his first turn through the Mariners lineup. Four were swing-and-misses of 96-97 mph fastballs. Two were curveballs taken for called third strikes. He racked up four more strikeouts in seven at-bats the second time through Kevin Pillar Jersey, including a 98 mph fastball past Danny Valencia to end a battle in the fifth.

Verlander opened the sixth with a strikeout on a slider that left Haniger struggling to hold up. Once Dyson placed his bunt between Verlander and Miguel Cabrera, momentum reversed.

Mike Zunino fouled off a 3-2 fastball before taking another for a walk. Jean Segura hit a popup that caught a wind and tucked inside the left-field line beyond rangy Jose Iglesias. Ben Gamel lined an RBI single for the first run.
Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Majestic White Flex Base 40th Anniversary Patch Jersey.

Verlander recovered for a called third strike on Robinson Cano, but paid for curveball to old nemesis Nelson Cruz.

“Really, it all came down to executing a little better pitch to Cruz there with two outs,” he said. “Need to execute the pitch just a tad bit better, but overall, best I’ve felt in a long time. Actually, extremely optimistic about it.”

Robinson Cano powers Mariners Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey with grand slam

SEATTLE — It’s taken the Mariners all season to climb over the .500 mark, but they finally made it as Robinson Cano cranked two home runs and a career high-tying six RBIs in a 9-6 victory over the Tigers on Thursday night to complete a four-game series sweep.Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 20 Josh Donaldson Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey Cheap.

Cano hadn’t homered in his previous 15 games, but he roped a two-run shot in the third and a grand slam in the seventh to give him 13 homers and 48 RBIs on the year. That provided plenty of run support for right-hander Andrew Moore, who won his Major League debut with seven innings of three-run ball.

Full Game Coverage

“I’m not looking for my power numbers, but when you’ve got men in scoring position or situations like that and you hit a homer, you put your team ahead,” Cano said. “That’s what I’m looking for. For me, it’s not about how many homers I hit, it’s just to do my job with men in scoring position.”

Seattle had lost its previous four games when given a chance to break .500, but this time improved to 38-37 with just the second four-game sweep of the Tigers in franchise Josh Donaldson Jersey history Kevin Pillar Youth Jersey. The Mariners are 17-8 since May 28, the second-best mark in the Majors in that span.

Detroit (32-40) saw its season-long losing streak extended to six games, falling to last place in the American League Central. Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera each had two hits with a home run and two RBIs, while Daniel Norris took the loss as he allowed five runs on five hits over six frames.Men’s Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Alternate Royal Blue Jersey.

“I gave up the five runs in three innings and I still wasn’t feeling it,” Norris said. “But in my head, I had to find a way to get through. And the way I finished is the positive I am going to take out of it. But at the same time, obviously, you want to give the team a better chance to win. It was a grind, for sure.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
He likes lefties, too: WIth Jean Segura back off the disabled list, Mariners manager Scott Servais dropped the hot-hitting Ben Gamel out of the leadoff role. He was in the two-hole against right-hander Justin Verlander on Wednesday and hit in the No. 7 spot against the southpaw Norris. But Gamel doesn’t seem to care where he hits, he just hits. The rookie ripped a two-run double in the second to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest active streak in the Majors. He’s batted .431 (25-for-58) during that stretch to put his average at .352. And he’s fared just fine against lefties, batting .340.

“It feels good to see Gamel come from the Minor Leagues and do the job he’s doing,” Cano said. “He’s helping us big time in the lineup. You can’t just focus on the three guys [in the middle].”

Josh Donaldson Jersey For Sale Birthday bash: Kinsler celebrated turning 35 by continuing his recent power surge as he homered for a third straight game, this one a solo shot with two out in the third for the Tigers’ first run off Moore. Kinsler drove a 90-mph fastball a projected 398 feet, per Statcast™, over the left-field wall as Moore left a 3-1 fastball out over the plate. Kinsler also had a run-scoring single in the fifth in going 2-for-5, and he now has eight homers on the season.Youth Majestic Flexbase Authentic 11 Kevin Pillar Toronto Blue Jays Home White Baseball Jersey.

“He’s been a little more aggressive on the bases, he’s swung the bat better, he’s looked good at the plate,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. “He’s a guy that wants to win, so he’s trying to do what he can to spark, I guess, would be a good way to describe it.”

QUOTABLES
“That was unbelievable. It felt like I blinked and it was over. It absolutely flew by.” — Moore, on his MLB debut

“Big night for Robbie, no doubt. He was due. He doesn’t like everybody else getting all the attention and certainly tonight, he carried the load for us with a couple big homers. Very talented player, he’s had a great career. He can go hitless or not look great for a few days, but it usually doesn’t last too long with him.” — Mariners manager Scott Servais, on Cano Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Majestic White Flex Base 40th Anniversary Patch Jersey.

ROCKY DEBUT FOR POVSE
Moore wasn’t the only Mariners pitcher making his first MLB appearance as Max Povse also saw his first action since being called up from Double-A when he replaced Moore in the eighth. The 6-foot-8 right-hander didn’t fare nearly as well, allowing three runs on four straight two-out hits — a double by Alex Avila, Cabrera’s two-run homer to center, a double by J.D. Martinez and a run-scoring single by Justin Upton that cut the lead to 9-6 — before Tony Zych came on to strike out Andrew Romine and end the rally.

Moore and Povse became the 30th and 31st pitchers used by the Mariners in their first 75 games, including 12 rookies. Moore is the team’s 13th starter. All of those numbers are the most in the Majors this year.

Blue Jays Jersey White celebrate Play Ball Weekend at Josh Donaldson

DETROIT — From meet-and-greets to on-field clinics, Play Ball Weekend is a chance for boys and Josh Donaldson Jersey girls to get an up-close look at some of their favorite players. Detroit will host 15 events/attractions Thursday through Sunday, all centered on bringing baseball to young kids and families.

The second annual Play Ball Weekend features a variety of youth engagement activities by nearly 200 Major League and Minor League clubs to highlight the fun of youth baseball and softball. It is a complementary program of the Play Ball initiative, designed by MLB to celebrate youth baseball and softball participation. MLB has provided clubs with more than 300,000 youth plastic bat and ball Jose Bautista Jersey sets to distribute in both ballparks and at community events.

Full Game Coverage

On Friday, the Tigers hosted a kids-only press conference with two youth baseball teams as one of several events over the weekend. The press conference featured Tigers pitchers Blaine Hardy and Shane Greene, as well as utility man Andrew Romine, who answered questions from an audience of almost 40 young ballplayers. Questions to the pros ranged from how they strengthened their arms and found inspiration for baseball, to their favorite school subject and U.S. president.

“It’s inspiring to the little kids who might want to play in the big leagues one day,” said Tigers Kids Club member Sarah Larson Russell Martin Jersey, 13, who hosted the press conference. “Because then they have the Major League players who once were little kids, so they’re talking about their experiences and stuff.”

Hardy admitted that if he’d been one of the kids, with an opportunity to ask MLB players whatever he wanted, his question would pertain more relevant to life than simply to baseball.

“Because obviously you want to be exactly like them,” Hardy said. “What do you eat? What do you do when you’re not at the field? What do you do for fun? Stuff like that.”

Many MLB clubs are hosting skills and physical fitness clinics as well as surprise “takeovers” of youth baseball and softball games or practices featuring appearances by Major League players, alumni, mascots, public address announcers and more. Activities will include pregame meet-and-greets and catches with players, ceremonial first pitches, public address duties, lineup card exchanges, taking the field with players, postgame running the bases and more. Major League players, coaches and managers will wear Play Ball Weekend patches during the weekend’s games, and players on home clubs will wear custom T-shirts during batting practice on the date of their club’s activations.

On Saturday, Detroit hosted a Blue Jays Jersey Red community clinic with strength and conditioning coach Yousef Zamat and other members of the coaching staff. The clinic included three 15-minute rotations of throwing, hitting and fielding for members of a local youth baseball league. That gave way to an on-field clinic open to all fans, where more than 100 kids and parents took to the outfield for teaching sessions with Tigers players and coaches.

Other Play Ball Weekend events featured at Comerica Park:

• On Sunday, six youth ballplayers and their parents will get a chance to play catch in the Comerica Park outfield. Then nine kids will take the field and participate in a hat exchange with current Tigers players.

• To begin Kevin Pillar Jersey Sunday’s game, one kid will be picked to be the “Play Ball” announcer prior to the first pitch.

Tigers display solid baserunning vs. Josh Donaldson Jersey

DETROIT — The Tigers simply outslugged the White Sox in the first two games of their series at Comerica Park this past weekend. But on Sunday, they used Josh Donaldson Jersey astute baserunning to set up a 7-4 walk-off win.

Trailing, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth, Detroit opened with a leadoff single by Justin Upton, who later sprinted to third on an errant pickoff throw. Then John Hicks doubled to left-center, stole third and scored two batters later on a grounder that rolled under the glove of Chicago second baseman Yolmer Sanchez. On that same play, Andrew Romine went from first to third.

Jose Iglesias, the next batter, grounded into a potential double play, but he beat the throw at first to allow Romine to score and keep the inning alive.

“Some of the things we did on the Kevin Pillar Jersey bases are huge for us,” Upton said. “Hicks took an extra base today, guys going first to third on base hits. Those are things that win ballgames that get overlooked.”

Hicks’ steal, his first in 13 games this year, was set up by pinch-hitter Alex Presley attempting a sacrifice bunt. Presley Jose Bautista Jersey fouled off the first pitch and Hicks noticed that third baseman Todd Frazier was moving up for the bunt with no one covering the bag. Hicks made the choice himself to take the base on the next pitch.

The Tigers had another small-ball play in the works in the eighth, when Romine led off with a single. This time, Presley got the sac bunt down right away to advance Romine, who then stole third. The game remained even at 4-4, however, because Iglesias and Dixon Machado both flied out to end the inning.

Of course, the powerful middle of Detroit’s lineup could no longer be held down in the ninth, as Upton mashed a hanging knuckle curve over the wall in left to give the Tigers the win. But that doesn’t take away from the team’s heads-up play on the bases, featuring two stolen bases and a sac bunt, despite the fact Detroit entered the game with just five sacrifice hits in 55 games this season. The Tigers also played error-free in the Troy Tulowitzki Jersey field.

“We played the game the right way today and we got rewarded for it,” Upton said.

Toronto Blue Jays Josh Donaldson Jersey makes Triple-A start

TOLEDO, Ohio — When starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was sent down on Friday, he said manager Brad Ausmus wanted him to attack hitters and regain a “killer instinct.” In Boyd’s first start with Triple-A Toledo, he tossed a quality start and felt he made the adjustments that had been asked of him.

“Got Russell Martin Jersey back to attacking guys, stayed in my delivery, using all my pitches,” Boyd said. “I got swings and misses on all my pitches today. Slider was good, curveball was good, changeup was good. [Catcher Bryan Holaday] called a great game.”

Boyd tossed three 1-2-3 innings and cruised into the seventh against Indianapolis having allowed just one run on two hits. But the Indians rattled off three straight one-out singles to load the bases and chase him from the game. Five pitches later, Mud Hens reliever Dustin Molleken gave up a double that brought two home. Boyd kicked the dugout ledge while watching the play in disappointment with himself.

“If you don’t want the inherited guys to score, then you don’t leave them out there,” Boyd said.

The left-hander allowed three runs on Josh Donaldson Jersey five hits and four walks to go with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

He had some command issues, at one point allowing five of eight hitters to reach three-ball counts. But he threw first-pitch strikes to 16 of the 26 batters he faced, and his six strikeouts tied his season high in 11 Major League starts this year. His fastball, which has averaged 90-91 mph this year according to Statcast™, topped out at 94 mph on Monday.

Despite running into trouble in the third, giving up a homer over the 365-foot left-center-field wall and dealing back-to-back full-count walks with two outs, Boyd was bailed out when Holaday threw out a runner on a double steal attempt.

Boyd was never dominant this season with the Tigers, but his productive start to the season took a hard turn in mid-May. In his first seven starts, he had a 3.89 ERA and allowed a .255/.335/.409 slash line. Those numbers ballooned to Troy Tulowitzki Jersey a 10.13 ERA and .444/.477/.654 in his past four starts, which led to the demotion Jose Bautista Jersey to Triple-A.

Mud Hens manager Mike Rojas said he’s unsure of how long Boyd will be in Toledo. The southpaw said he’s taking his assignment “day by day.”

“I’m just grateful every time I get the ball,” Boyd said. “It felt good to get back into my swing of things and throw the ball with confidence.”

Worth noting

• Anibal Sanchez, who’s on assignment with Toledo working his arm up to once again start games, is on the seven-day disabled list with left hamstring tightness. In Sanchez’s last start, he left after 78 pitches, which was within his targeted 75-85 pitch range. Rojas said Sanchez’s MRI revealed there was no tear in his hamstring, but the DL Joe Carter Jersey placement will cause him to miss one start.

“After missing a start, maybe we’ll stay at the [75-85 pitch range],” Rojas said. “Just keep an eye on it. It depends on how he feels. We sure don’t want to push it with the hammy tightened up like that.”

Blue Jays Authentic Troy Tulowitzki Jersey walk-off HR

There’s a level of familiarity between division opponents that can’t be equaled, especially between two rivals with as much shared Troy Tulowitzki Jersey history as the Tigers and White Sox.

But from Chicago’s perspective, Detroit may be getting a little too familiar with closer David Robertson’s knuckle curveball, after Tigers outfielder Justin Upton hit one 421 feet into the left-field stands as projected by Statcast™ on Sunday to deliver a 7-4 walk-off win for the home side.

Joe Carter Jersey

According to Statcast™’s pitch-tracking data, batters had gone just 3-for-31 against Robertson’s knuckle curve this season until Upton dug in at the plate with a pair of runners on and one out in the bottom of the ninth. Robertson’s .097 batting average against his hook was the seventh-lowest in the Majors among pitchers who had ended at least 30 at-bats with a curve or knuckle curveball, and it looked as if that figure would drop even further when Upton swung and missed on an inside curve for strike one.

“I wanted that one back, but you don’t get them back,” said Upton, who entered Sunday’s contest having gone just 4-for-24 in 2017 against curves and knuckle curves. “So, I continued to battle.”

In fact, of the six extra-base hits Robertson has allowed on his curve Kevin Pillar Jersey over the past two seasons, the Tigers now own three of them. Nicholas Castellanos homered off the pitch on July 24 last year.

Closers are Russell Martin Jersey to have short memories, and one can be assured that Robertson will approach his next encounter with the Tigers with the confidence that he can get them out. But Detroit’s sluggers will have their own confidence when they step into the batter’s box; after all, they’ve shown the ability to attack Robertson in ways that other teams have not.

Tigers miss chances to damage Yu Darvish early Custom Blue Jays jerseys

DETROIT — The Tigers had to feel pretty good about their start against Texas ace Yu Darvish on Sunday night, plating a pair of Custom Blue Jays Jersey runs in the first two innings. After the 5-2 loss to the Rangers, however, it’s clear they missed their chance to break the game open.

“We did have a shot in the first,” Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said. “That’s why [Darvish] is a good pitcher because he’s able to get out of those types of situations.”

Full Game Coverage

Darvish, who’d allowed just three earned runs in the first two innings of his previous nine starts (1.50 ERA), allowed a leadoff home run by Ian Kinsler. Then he dealt a walk to Alex Avila and a single to Miguel Cabrera, which brought J.D. Martinez Ryan Goins Jersey, batting .478 with six home runs in eight games this year, to the plate.

But Martinez struck out on one of several devastating sliders Darvish would throw over his five innings. Justin Upton walked on five pitches to put the pressure on Darvish again.

A well-placed slider forced Nicholas Castellanos to hit a slow roller back to the mound so Darvish could get a forceout at home. One more slider, which Tyler Collins hit for a flyout to right field, ended the threat.

“After that first inning, we had people on here and there, but we didn’t really do much against (Darvish),” Ausmus said. “He was never really in danger other than the first inning.”

Detroit added another run in the second, on a two-out single by Cabrera to score Andrew Romine, but the offense quieted quickly after that. Only four hitters reached base the final seven innings, while eight struck out.

At the time, in a 2-2 game through two inning Marcus Stroman Jersey, the Tigers were in a strong position. They’d worked Darvish for four walks and shot his pitch count up to 56, suggesting more offensive production was on the way.

“Problem was, even though we got his pitch count up, at times we did have opportunities and we weren’t able to get that one hit to kind of put the separation as Russell Martin Jersey far as the runs,” said Avila, who had two seven-pitch walks and a single in the first four innings but struck out to end the game, putting Detroit at 0-7 all time against Darvish.

The chance to pounce on Darvish came and passed. He tossed a 1-2-3 third inning on 11 pitches. Even in the fourth, with two on and two out for Cabrera, all it took was another sharp slider to get an inning-ending groundout to second base.

While the early innings served a purpose of chasing Darvish – he was out after five innings, having thrown 105 pitches – the greater purpose of capitalizing on the scoreboard passed Detroit by.

The Tigers had one-out chances in the sixth and seventh with runners on second and finished the game 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Ausmus didn’t chalk up that stat to lack of effort by his players, though.

“Well it might be Kevin Pillar Jersey that the guys pitching are pretty good,” he said. “Hitting’s not easy.”

Peacock Kevin Pillar Jersey Blue Jays fills in for Keuchel vs. Fulmer, Tigers

Brad Peacock hasn’t appeared as a starting pitcher since Spring Training, but Astros manager A.J. Hinch told Peacock then Ryan Goins Jersey that he’d be the replacement if a starter went down with an injury. Peacock’s chance will come Monday.

The Astros sent ace Dallas Keuchel, who likely would’ve opened Houston’s four-game home series against Detroit on Monday, to the 10-day disabled list after being diagnosed with a pinched nerve in his neck. Peacock, a sturdy right-handed bullpen arm, will fill in. He is 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA in 12 outings this season.

Full Game Coverage

Hinch said how deep Peacock goes in the game depends on his efficiency. He tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Friday.

“I feel good,” Peacock said on Sunday. “My stuff has been pretty good lately, going to try to carry it over into the start. … Going to try to find the strike zone early, pound the Kevin Pillar Jersey zone, work the fastball and go from there.”

Detroit will counter with the right-handed Michael Fulmer (5-1, 2.72 ERA), who hasn’t lost since April 18 and is 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA in three May starts Marcus Stroman Jersey. Fulmer, the reigning American League Rookie of the Year, has never faced the Astros. The only two current Astros to face him, Norichika Aoki and Carlos Beltran, are a combined 0-for-11 with three strikeouts.

In Houston, the Tigers Russell Martin Jersey will open a 10-game, three-city road trip to end a whirlwind second half of May. When the month is over, they will have played 17 games in 16 days.

“We’ve gotta be able to survive this next road trip going into June,” catcher Alex Avila said. “We’re able to do that, we’ll be in a real good position going into next month.”

Things to know about this game:

• Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez is expected to be in Houston in time for Monday’s game after spending the past three days at home in Venezuela as his wife gave birth to their fourth child. Martinez has five home runs and 16 RBIs in 23 career games against Houston.

• The Astros placed catcher Brian McCann on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Sunday (retroactive to Saturday). Juan Centeno, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Fresno, will catch one of the next two games, according to Hinch.

• Jose Altuve extended  Custom Blue Jays Jersey his hitting streak to seven games with a two-run homer on Sunday.

Rangers back Yu Darvish, win series in Detroit Josh Donaldson Blue Jays Jersey

DETROIT — Mike Napoli and Pete Kozma hit solo homers as part of a 12-hit Rangers barrage off Matthew Boyd, supporting Yu Darvish through five innings as Texas took a 5-2 win over the Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey Tigers on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series at Comerica Park.

The Rangers (24-21) have won 11 of their last 12, and eight of their last nine in Detroit. The Tigers finished a 3-3 homestand against Baltimore and Texas, falling back to .500 at 21-21 before embarking on a three-city, 11-game road trip.

Full Game Coverage

“We are just playing good baseball,” Napoli said. “This is what we envisioned in Spring Training, how we wanted to play. We got off to a rough start, but we got it figured out. We need to just need to keep it rolling.”

Though eight of the Rangers’ first 15 batters had base hits off Boyd (2-4), all but one of them were singles, allowing the young left-hander to limit the damage and hang with Darvish in a 2-2 game. Napoli’s 10th homer of the season, a tape-measure shot in the fifth inning, put Texas up for good. Kozma’s first home run since 2013 padded the lead, as did Jonathan Lucroy’s RBI double in the ninth.

“He had a lot of traffic,” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said of Boyd. “He was able to wiggle out of some of it, but the more guys you put on base, generally speaking, the more runs you end up giving up. And that’s basically what’s happened.”

Darvish (5-2) walked four batters in Josh Donaldson Jersey five innings but utilized a sharp slider for seven strikeouts. Ian Kinsler’s leadoff home run and Miguel Cabrera’s second-inning RBI single comprised the scoring against him.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Party at the camera well: Napoli’s drive toward the center-field shrubs looked eerily similar to a home run he hit off Anibal Sanchez in Game 5 of the 2013 ALCS. His drive off a Boyd slider Sunday night was projected by Statcast™ at 446 feet, and hit the camera well below the fountain in center. More >

Darvish ends early threats: Though Darvish gave up single runs in the first and second innings, the Tigers had chances for much more. Detroit loaded the bases after Kinsler’s homer in the first, but Darvish escaped with a Tyler Collins flyout to right. An inning later, Darvish stranded two runners by striking out J.D. Martinez, whose red-hot hitting since his return from the disabled list last week ended in an 0-for-4, three-strikeout night. More >

“After that first inning, we had people on here and there, but we didn’t really do much against him,” Ausmus said. “He was never really in danger other than the first inning. But we had good at-bats, and as a result the pitch count went up and he was out of the game relatively early for a pitcher of his stature.”

QUOTABLE
“You throw sinkers and a ground ball finds a hole. You throw a changeup and a guy hits it off the end of the bat. Or you jam a guy and it flares down the line or whatever. Stuff happens. It’s out of your control.” — Boyd on his 12 hits over 5 1/3 innings

SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Napoli’s home run had an exit velocity of 111.3 mph, making it his second-hardest hit homer in the Statcast™ era. His 463-foot home run off Minnesota’s Tyler Duffey last Sept. 9 had an exit velocity of 111.5 mph.

Kinsler’s leadoff homer was the 42nd of his career, moving him into a tie for sixth place on the all-time Major League list. He’s tied with former Tiger Curtis Granderson.

STEALING SIGNS?
Cabrera and Rangers reliever Sam Dyson exchanged words at the end of the seventh inning, after Dyson saw Cabrera at second base signaling to batters. Ausmus called it a misunderstanding, explaining that Cabrera was telling teammates Dyson had a changeup and wasn’t stealing signs.

“I told him he was too smart,” Dyson said. “He said, ‘What did you say?’ I turned around. I might have said it twice. I wasn’t a Blue Jays Canada Day Jersey, I was telling him he was too smart. I thought he might have been [stealing] signs. He wasn’t. No worries. No issues. No complaints.”

Josh Donaldson Women’s Jersey
Rangers: Right-hander Andrew Cashner opens up Josh Donaldson Canada Day Jersey a three-game series with the Red Sox at 6:10 p.m. (CT) Tuesday at Fenway Park. Cashner will make his first career start against the Red Sox. The Rangers are 39-23 against the Red Sox since the beginning of the 2009 season.

Tigers: The Lone Star State stretch of the schedule continues Monday in Houston, where the Tigers open a four-game series against the Astros with an 8:10 p.m. ET contest at Minute Maid Park. Michael Fulmer (5-1, 2.72) takes a 3-0 record in May and a five-game unbeaten streak into his start opposite Brad Peacock.
